I call Mona my "boomerang."  I have had Mona sold or someone seriously interested in buying her more times than I can count, but somehow she keeps ending up back in my pasture.  I sold Mona in 2005 while she was carrying "Abby".  I had full payment in hand and was getting her ready for transport when the buyer asked to trade for another mare I had for sale. When Abby was born the following Spring (2006), I was glad I had agreed to the trade.  The following year, From the Heart Farm showed Mona's first foal, "Debut" , at the 2007 Congress and brought home 2 National Championships and a Reserve Grand Championship. Between 2007 and 2008, Mona was "sold" two more times.  A month after the last sale fell through, Abby and Mona's 3rd foal, "Maggie", won 2 National Championships and 4 Reserve National Champions, earning enough futurity and incentive money to pay for our Congress expenses.  I finally decided that Mona is meant to stay with us for a while!  In 2009, three of her foals (Debut, Abby, and "Thumper" (foal #4)) represented her at Congress and brought home 6 National Championships, including a Sr and a Jr Championship.  Magic, the sire of all 3, won Get of Sire with Mona's foals as representatives and Mona herself won Reserve National Champion Produce of Dam.  My decision to keep her was confirmed.  Mona's last two foals, Thumper and "Missy", have been sold to show homes and we wish their new owners the same success.  Two of her daughters are expecting foals in 2010.  These will be the first grand-get for both Mona and Magic. Mona herself is not very tall and I'm looking forward to breeding her to Magic's smaller half brother, another "Lee" son, in a few years to produce more smaller foals that can be hardshipped to AMHR.
